DILG Assures NIR Retention Support at PPOC-PADAC Joint Meeting

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) assured of its continuous support of the Negros Island Region retention, as the newly appointed DILG OIC, Usec. Catalino Cuy, manifested his support to the NIR, according to DILG Usec. for Public Safety, Jesus Hinlo, Jr., during the Provincial Peace and Order Council – Provincial Antu-Drug Abuse Council Meeting (PPOC-PADAC) Joint Meeting held at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Monday.

“Rest assured that there is a continuing effort in the DILG that supports our stand on NIR retention,” said Usec. Hinlo.

PPOC and PADAC Chairman, Gov. Alfredo Maranon, Jr. who presided over the meeting thanked the DILG and said that the PPOC and PADAC are very important because it proves that Negros Occidental is indeed peaceful.

He urged all the member-agencies of the council to help each other in maintaining the peace to make the province more progressive.

He also said that the provincial government partners with the non-government organizatons in helping the less privileged individuals and abandoned children, thereby reducing the chances of criminality among children.

Usec. Hinlo also reiterated his appeal to fight against illegal drugs that is one of the priority programs of the national government; he also encouraged more police visbilities in public areas.

PPDC and PPOC Action Officer, Dr. Ma. Lina Sanogal presented the Drug Rehabilitation Updates highlighting the successful drug rehabilitation program dubbed as “Wellness Program” of the provincial government.

She also updated the council of the result of the Peace Consultation Program of the Provincial Peace and Integration and Development Unit (Pro-PIDU).

The Phil. Army and the PNP also presented security and anti-criminality updates and assured its readiness in response to the activities of the Lenten Season.

Meanwhile, the council has also approved a resolution commending former Negros Occ. Police Provincial Office director, Col. William Senoron, for a well done job in maintaining the peace and order situation in the province being an active member of the PPOC and PADAC.

Also present in the meeting were 3rd ID Commanding Officer, Gen. Jon Aying, 303rd IB Commanding Officer, Col. Eliezer Losanes, PDEA-NIR Director, Roslyn Borja, DILG Negros Occ. Director, Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag, Negros Occ. Board Member Miguel Alonso, and Mayor Jilson Tubillara of San Enrique, among others./Capitol News
