Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. led in the turn over of various agricultural equipment and tools worth a total of P15 Million to farmers from the different cities and municipalities of the province who are members of the Irrigators’ Associations, in a ceremony held in Bago City, Wednesday.
The farmers received threshers, mini-wheel drive tractors, weighing scales, harvesters, sprayers, grass cutters, centrifugal pump and engines, floating tillers, and other farming tools.
The said agricultural equipment and tools are used in mechanized farming, which will reduce pre- and post-harvest losses, enhance ease and convenience of operation of farmers, increase yield and production, and increase the farmers’ income.
Gov. Marañon said the provincial government plans to implement more irrigation projects for the benefit of Negrense farmers.
He urged the farmers to take good care of the projects given to them and share them as well to other farmers.
Present in the activity were Dept. of Agriculture – NIR Director, Dr. Joyce Wendam, Provincial Consultant on Local Governance and Inter-Local Government Alliance for Agricultural Productivity, Rosamary Caunca, NIA Regional Irrigation Manager, Engr.
