The Negros Occidental Provincial Library opened its new section, the children’s corner, recently, in line with the celebration of the 20th National Children’s Month Anniversary with the theme, “Bright Child ay Siguraduhin, Responsableng Pamamahayag Palaganapin”.

The new corner has nursery books, educational toys and charts, puzzles, coloring books and many more, donated by private individuals, teachers, and provincial officials.

It was formally opened through a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a short program where donated books were turned over to the library followed by storytelling sessions.

Guests during the celebration include the Bantay Bata 163 beneficiaries and students of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Kinder School.

Negros Occ. First Lady, Dr. Marilyn Marañon, said that parents should teach their children to love books and encourage them to keep on reading so that when they grow up they will learn to appreciate the value of reading good books.

The putting up of the children’s corner is an initiative of provincial librarian, Dr. Joyce Deloso.

It is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. /Capitol News
