NEWLY-RENOVATED MAMBUKAL BUTTERFLY GARDEN INAUGURATED
The newly-renovated Butterfly Garden at the Provincial Government-owned Mambukal Resort is now open to the public after it was blessed and inaugurated over the weekend.
The blessing was officiated by Fr. Samson de Leon of St. John Bosco Parish and was attended by Pedro Arimas, the lessee of the Butterfly Garden, and his family, together with Mambukal Resort Manager Ellen Vasquez, Asst. Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa, and Provincial Information Officer Marlin Sanogal, among others.
The butterfly garden displays the life cycle of butterflies, its different species as well as how they are fed and grown. Live predators of butterflies found at the resort like tarantula, wild geckos, scorpions, millipedes and centipedes, among others were also displayed for educational purposes.
The garden is a must-see for families on a Mambukal outing and also offers interesting information for students on educational trips.
Arimas is a local expert on butterflies who also breeds several local species in his Minoyan, Murcia home.
The garden also has a souvenir shop selling items such as frames of dried butterflies and printed t-shirts at reasonable prices./Capitol News
