Member Melvin Ibañez representing the Fifth District of
Negros Occidental and chairman of the SP Committee on
Health, yesterday administered the Oath of Office of the
newly-elected officers of the Sanitarian Association of the
Philippines – Negros Occidental at the Governor’s Hall,
Provincial Capitol in a simple ceremony, during their annual
Program Implementation Review.
Inducted into office were Charito Odio of Himamaylan City as
president; Cecil Guilaran of San Enrique, vice-president;
Renato Jaleco, Sr. of Sagay, secretary; Norma Arevalo of
Hinoba-an, treasurer; David Sotea of Cauayan and Erna Locsin
of Cadiz, public information officers; Nonie Pajarillo of
Candoni business manager; Roger Dequito, auditor; Nonoy Tia
of Sipalay and Marilou Sendico of La Carlota, sergeant at
arms; Jenny Rose Año of Moises Padilla and Isagani Aposaca
of Calatrava as muse and consort.
There are six vice-presidents from each of the interlocal
health zones of the province, who were also inducted:
Ceretel Fejedero, Erna Locsin, Maricel Benjamin, Cecil
Guiaran, Daphne Pineda, and Rosemarie Completo.
Board Member Ibañez said that he considers the sanitary
inspectors as the first line of defense in health protection
and that when it collapses the community will be in danger
of epidemic and diseases.
He is challenging all the sanitary inspectors to grow as an
association, set an example and make our province a healthy
and safe place to live in by promoting cleanliness and
proper sanitation.
He also distributed a value heath card that he himself
initiated together with Gov. Joseph G. Marañon and Vice-Gov.
Isidro P. Zayco providing discounts to hospital expenses in
accredited hospitals.
Advisers of the association are Jonathan Figueroa of
Victorias City, and Nolito Tabigan and Ma. Vilma Celis of
