The Swine
Breeding Center in Barangay Tinampa-an, Cadiz City.*
The
Provincial Government of Negros Occidental through the
Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OPV) and Cadiz
City Veterinary Office inaugurated its Swine Breeding
Center located in Barangay Tinampa-an recently.
The center can house 25 sow and 70 heads for fattening
with facilities such as farrowing and gestating cage,
boar’s pen, fattening pen and concrete structure that
meets the swine housing standards.
Prior to the opening of the center, the Provincial
Government through the OPV provided one head junior boar
and three heads gilt worth P73,000 as counterpart for
the community to start its own genetic improvement
program. The junior boar shall be used for artificial
insemination on swine to maximize its breeding
potential.
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Renante Decena said that the
putting up of a breeding center is a key towards a
sustainable animal improvement program.
Also present during the activity were Cadiz City Vice
Mayor Samson Mirhan, Cadiz City Veterinarian Dr. Josue
