Preparations are ongoing and activities are lined up for
this year’s Panaad sa Negros Festival, which is dubbed
as the “Festival of Festivals” that is scheduled on
April 26-May 3, 2008 participated in by the 13 cities
and 19 municipalities of the Province of Negros
Occidental.
The local government
units’ pavilions at the Panaad Park and Stadium located
at Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City will again be
decorated and opened to the public with the display of
history and culture, native products including food,
among others.
There will be competition for new and innovative
products that will be judged according to four
categories such as personal accessories, home
accessories, home furnishings, and processed food.
The annual celebration
will have the “Best of Festival Dances” Competition on
the first day that this year will be more meaningful
because of the research on historical roots and
production.
Other proposed
competitions among LGUs are Panaad Sports Competition,
Pop Idol, Banda Diri, Banda Didto – elementary and
secondary levels, Latin Dance Competition, Pop Dance
Showdown, Panaad Livelihood Skills Olympics, On-the-Spot
Painting Contest, songwriting competition, folk dance
showcasing the Negrense dances, Composo, and the Search
for Lin-ay sang Negros 2008.
Negosyo-to-Go which is
a hands-on demonstration on how to make fashion
accessories, herbal oil, hair gel, whitening lotion,
detergent powder, among others will also be scheduled by
the Negros Occidental Technology and Livelihood
Development Center.
According to Negros Occ. Provincial Information Officer
and Panaad Festival Action Officer, Marlin P. Sanogal,
this year’s Panaad sa Negros Festival, on its 15th year
will focus more on showcasing the best of Negrense
history and culture through its songs and dances, aside
from its arts, sports, products and tourism
