Governor Isidro P. Zayco commended a Negrense athlete
who earned a silver medal in power lifting in the
recently concluded Paralympics held at Nakhon Ratchasima,
Thailand, as she paid a courtesy visit at the Capitol,
yesterday.
Achelle Guion, 34, who hails from San Jose, Sipalay City
is a member of the Philippine Team who participated in
the Paralympics this year. She is wheelchair-bound
because she was stricken by polio at a young age but she
did well in the field of power lifting.
She was also commended
by Board Member Macario Zafra, Jr. of the 6th District,
ABC-Negros Occ. President George B. Gitano, PCL-Negros
Occ. President Raul C. Rivera, and Special Assistant for
Special Concerns Atty. Ike Barredo, among others who
have pledged to give her incentives for her feat.
Guion was accompanied
by her trainers Leans Villafranca and Joey Atanacio.
She will participate in another Paralympics to be held
in Beijing, China some time in September this
