24-member team from the Connecticut Association of
Philippine Physicians and the Philippine American
Association of Connecticut, Incorporated are conducting
a three-day Surgical Mission which started yesterday,
February 11 until February 13 at the Teresita L.
Jalandoni Provincial Hospital.
The group , headed by Dr.
Gino Ang, is composed of Dr. Zeno Chicarilli and Dr.
Deborah Pan for Plastic Surgery; Dr. Scott Soloway for
Ophthalmology; Dr. Kaye Zuckerman for General Surgery;
Dr. Alfred Belen for Psychiatry; Dr. Mamatha Punjala,
Dr. Ramachandran Ramani and Dr. Elizabeth Anne Freck for
Anesthesiology; Nurse Anesthetists Odeed Geismar,
Burnette Donato and Kristine Glenney; Dian
Traisci-Marandola, Nurse Practitioner; and Nurses Lory
Gasmen, Alma Ang, Rev. Richard Vila, Salome Goingo, Nity
Oris, and Elisio Malabon. Also with the group are
volunteers Romeo Goingo, Derek Chicarilli, Antonio
Arcilla, Shreyas Ramani and Al Gene Ang.
Some 74 patients,
including children, coming from Hinobaan, Candoni,
Cauayan, Ilog, Isabela, Escalante, Sagay City, E B
Magalona, Murcia and Silay City will undergo surgical
operations on cataract, cleft lip/palate, hernia,
“contracture 2’ to burn”, breast mass, “gynecomartia”,
“fistula in ano”, keloid, umbilical polyp, cystic mass
and hemorrhoid.
The activity, dubbed as “Tulong Kapwa 2008,” is
sponsored by the Provincial Government of Negros
Occidental through the Economic Enterprise Development
Department (EEDD) which aims to provide medical
attention to the least members of the society, health
being a priority program of Gov. Joseph G. Marañon’s
