List of Figures

Tourism Industry holds economic importance to the country particularly in the Province of Negros Occidental. Tourists allocate income to spend for their vacation, leisure, adventure, attendance to special events and other tourism-related activities. There is therefore a need to vigorously pursue the establishment and improvement of tourism facilities and services in the various sites within the province. Success in tourism development means increase in employment and generating revenue for public services. With these perceived benefits, Tourism Development and Promotion has been identified as one of the seven priority agenda of the Marañon Administration.

Tourism statistics can provide information to planners and decision-makers on areas that need improvement. Financial statistics can point to them the facilities and services that generate income in this particular sector.

This chapter presents provincial data on visitor arrivals and their countries of residence/origin, number of hotels and hotel rooms and other accommodation facilities and their occupancy rates. The data sources are the Department of Tourism and the Negros Occidental Tourism Center.
