This year’s Provincial Women’s Month with the theme, “Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, kicked off in Talisay City today.

The event was organized by the Provincial Council for Women, led by its president, Andrea Lizares-Si, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

The day’s program included talks on Developing a Woman’s Agenda by Celia Flor, member of the Women Sectoral Council; DSWD Social Protection Programs by Bayyihih Ruth Robinson of DSWD; DTI Programs by DTI Negros Occ. Provincial Director Rachel Nufable, and National Situation and the Relevance of the 2022 Elections by Dr. Irene Gaile Robredo-Vitas.

Negros Occidental Board Members Rita Gatuslao, Araceli Somosa and Juvy Pepello, and Provincial Consultant Rafael Coscolluela, also gave their respective messages at the activity.

Governor Bong Lacson said that celebrating women’s month is a considerable proof of the journey taken, the victories and progress secured by the women’s movement.

“At present, women are thriving in all sectors of society and are succeeding in careers and endeavors that women from decades past can only imagine,” he said.

The governor said that the Province of Negros Occidental shall continue to create and uphold programs and policies with regard to good practices and measures in the pursuance of gender and development, to strengthen the Magna Carta of Women.

“I urge all of you present today to continue the pursuit of women’s equality with boldness and courage,” he added.

Gov. Lacson is the chairman of the Provincial GAD Focal Point System and Provincial Committee Against Trafficking, Child Pornography, and Violence Against Women and Children.

The group also had a workshop on “The Women’s Agenda” facilitated by PCW Advisers, Marie June Castro, Executive Assistant to the Governor and Action Officer of the Provincial GAD Focal Point System, and Dionela Flores-Madrona of CSWDO – Talisay City.
