Gov. Bong Lacson distributed educational assistance worth a total of P1,155,000 to 154 elementary and high school students who are members of the Indigenous Peoples of the Fifth District of Negros Occidental.
The ceremonial distribution of assistance was held at Sitio Marikudo, Brgy. Camangcamang, Isabela, in the presence of Fifth District Board Member Rita Gatuslao, who is also the chairman of the SP Committee on Education, Isabela Mayor Irene Montilla, Negros Occ. Scholarship Program (NOSP) Head, Karen Dinsay, Milina Jeruta of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) – Negros Occ., and IP Leaders Teresita “Day Ko” Sencida and Jonathan Camanso, among others.
The IP scholars received P7,500 each; they are grantees of the Educational Assistance for IP’s Basic Education (EAIBE), under the supervision of the NOSP.Of the 154 scholars, 111 were from Isabela, 31 were from Binalbagan, one from Valladolid, and 11 were from Himamaylan City.
