Gov. Bong Lacson together with Bacolod City Mayor Albee Benitez led the opening of the Bigasan ng Bayan at the Food Terminal Market of Occidental Negros (FTMON) this morning.
This collaboration of the provincial government with the Federation of Irrigators Association of Central Negros-Bago River Irrigation System (FIACN-BRIS) led by its president, Pedro Limpangog aims to help Negrense families especially the vulnerable sector buy affordable rice, and at the same time help our farmers have an assured income, lower the cost and improve farm production.
These Negrense farmers who are also JOs of the Provincial Government are paying it forward by offering 10% of their production will be sold to the public at 25 pesos per kilo.
The governor also assured his constituents that this program will be continued and that other groups will be tapped.
FIACN-BRIS President Limpangog shared that 44 irrigators association are part of this collaboration and assured the public that stocks will be replenished.
Consumers flocked the Bigas ng Bayan this morning to avail the Php25.00 per kilo of rice. Each person is only allowed to buy 5 kilos to ensure that everyone gets a chance to avail. Priority consumers are senior citizens, indigents and PWDs.*#AbanseNegrense
