Capitol Launches Infographic Design Competition for Drug Education Campaign

Governor Bong Lacson, Board Member Juvy Pepello, and Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz led the launching of the Infographic Design Competition at the Capitol Social Hall, today, as part of the 2020 Multimedia Drug Education Campaign.It is a collaborative project of the provincial government and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council, in partnership with the Dangerous Drugs Board and Liga ng mga Barangay.

The said competition is open to all high school and college Negrense students whose creativity and skill will innovate concepts relevant to the theme of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, “Better Knowledge for Better Care.”

All participating students will have the freedom and flexibility to identify and define anticipated problems and propose their own program, solutions, and conceptual agenda, and the winning design will serve as the official infographic design of the Liga ng mga Barangay drug education materials.

In his message, Gov. Lacson said that effective communication is the critical key if we are to imprint in the minds of our people the need to stay away from drugs.“Infographics have been gaining a lot of popularity and they are an effective and creative means of presenting information. At present, the attention span of people is getting shorter. Infographics convey data and information quickly and clearly,” he said.

The governor also said that the internet and the use of multimedia have made information dissemination easier than ever, and the use of infographics to intensify drug education campaign is truly befitting.As stated in the competition guidelines, all participants must be 16 to 29 years old and currently enrolled in high school or in college; only one entry is allowed for each participant; and each participant must be endorsed by their respective ABC president.

The deadline of submission of entries will be on November 5, 2020 and final judging will be on November 23, 2020 at the Negros Occ. Language and Information Technology Center (NOLITC); the top 5 entries are required to provide a short explanation about the output before the board of judges.The awarding of winners will be on November 27, 2020, and the grand prize winner will receive P30,000; second prize will have P20,000; and third prize will receive P10,000.

There will also be a consolation prize of P5,000 each for the entries ranking fourth and fifth and all of the participating entries will receive P3,000 each and certificates.It is also stated in the guidelines that the office of Board Member Pepello will validate each entry and has the authority to approve or disapprove entries subject to compliance with the competition guidelines and requirements.
