Governor Lacson Attends Women’s Day Celebration In Silay

In celebration of Women’s Day in Silay City today, (March 9), Governor Bong Lacson gave his assurance that his administration endeavors to be gender sensitive and responsive especially in promoting and actively pursuing the participation of women in various steps of development.

The program spearheaded by the city’s Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, was held at the Silay City Public Plaza and attended by its women organizations. The said venue also provided the setting for booths showcasing the products of the city’s barangays.

“We are a community whose women are active contributors and claim holders of development and we acknowledge that women have been instrumental in our continued delivery of public service,” said Governor Lacson.

He also said that it is a priority goal of his administration to inspire women and girls to be agents of change, promote gender equality and empowerment of women. 

Also present in the event were Board Members Ryan Gamboa and Juvy Pepello, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez and Vice Mayor Thomas Maynard Ledesma, Marie June Castro of the Provincial GAD Focal Point System and Executive Assistant to the Governor, Dominique Benitez, president of NIKKI Cares Foundation, Provincial Council for Women (PCW) chair, Atty. Andrea Si, Councilor Lyndon Bernardo, Silay City’s co-chair of the GAD Focal Points System, and other local officials.*Capitol News
