Twenty-seven grantees of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental’s Maritime Education Scholarship Program at John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation, Inc. signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Governor Bong Lacson and two Manning Companies, today.
The ceremonial MOA signing was held at the JBLCF HMA Function Hall, in the presence of JBLCF Bacolod Administrator, Engr. Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite, C/E Ritzi Don Sanchez, Deputy General Manager of Fukujin Kisen Co. Ltd, Keita Okajima and C/E Arnel Gonzales, president and general manager, respectively of the Misuga Management Services, Negros Occ. Scholarship Program Head Karen Dinsay, and parents of the scholars.
The qualified students were granted scholarships on a “Study Now, Pay Later” scheme at JBLCF Bacolod City who must complete their academic requirements for the degree Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation.
The Maritime Education Scholarship is a tripartite endeavor of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, JBLCF, and manning companies, aimed to provide educational benefits to the poor but deserving Negrense students.
Under the program, the provincial government will cover the tuition and school fees, miscellaneous and other fees plus shipboard training program fees, and will support the scholars until the completion of their studies; while the manning companies commit to grant employment for the scholars after a year of shipboard training.
Gov. Lacson said that the MOA signing represents a new door to a world of opportunities for the scholars.
“As you venture into this new chapter, always remember that you are also paving the way for the other young Negrenses who are going to follow your footsteps. Be responsible students and take full advantage of this chance to learn and grow,” he said.*#AbanseNegrense
