“Inday” Tribute to Women Exhibit opens

Governor Bong Lacson and Art Association of Bacolod – Negros (AAB-N) president, Ihvonnie “Tey” Sevilleno led the opening of the Art Exhibit, “Inday” a Tribute to Women, at the Provincial Capitol lobby this morning.

The exhibit features visual arts made by Negrense artists, that acknowledge women and the many ways that they’ve been an inspiration.

The governor thanked the AAB-N for sharing their excellent work to honor women and for being the Provincial Government’s partner in this year’s Women’s Art Exhibit.

He also said that art is a powerful tool to promote gender equality, well-being, and change and has been proven to inspire cultural awareness, and address social inequity, and cultural oppression.

“The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental will always be a staunch advocate of women and the arts. We shall continue to encourage the furtherance of art in the province,” said Gov. Lacson.

Also present at the activity were Board Member Rita Gatuslao and Provincial GAD Focal Point System Action Officer, Marie June Castro.
