Negros LGUs Receive P7.5 Million For Environmental Conservation Programs

Governor Bong Lacson turned over checks worth a total of P7,500,000 to various local government units of Negros Occidental for the implementation of coastal wetlands rehabilitation and environmental conservation programs.

The ceremonial turn over of financial assistance was held at the Capitol Grounds in Bacolod City, this afternoon, spearheaded by the Provincial Environment Management Office headed by Atty. Danilo Amisola.The beneficiaries were Brgy. VI-A, Victorias City, Sipalay City, Bago City, and the municipalities of Valladolid, Moises Padilla, Pulupandan, E.B. Magalona, Manapla, Ilog, Candoni and Isabela.

Among the projects were establishment of mangrove board walk and mangrove training center; fishing supplies and materials; installation of marker buoys in marine protected areas, construction of material recovery facility and solid waste management equipment support; upland greening project; procurement of garbage truck; purchase of plastic and bottle shredder, establishment of artificial reef; construction of watch tower; procurement and dispersal of high value and asexual plant propagated fruit trees; and establishment of eco-park.

The checks were received by LGU representatives and environment management coordinators of each LGU beneficiaries. Also present in the activity were Mayors Irene Montilla of Isabela, Ella Celestina Yulo of Moises Padilla, and Manuel Escalante III of Manapla.
