The Province of Negros Occidental hosted the 2023 World Day Against Trafficking Regional Culmination Program dubbed as “Blue Heart Campaign” in a ceremony held at the Capitol Lagoon.

It is spearheaded by the Provincial Committee Against Trafficking, Child Pornography, and Violence Against Women and Children chaired by Governor Bong Lacson.

The activity started with an advocacy walk from South Capitol Road to Gatuslao Street, Cottage Road, 13th Lacson Street, Aguinaldo Street, and back to the Capitol Lagoon, followed by a short program, solidarity prayer, and awarding of supportive stakeholders for anti-trafficking in-person initiatives.

Gov. Lacson urged everyone to be more vigilant against human trafficking for it is only through united and collective vigilance that the community can effectively help eradicate such kind of exploitation.

He also thanked everyone for their commitment to putting an end to human trafficking, which he considers modern-day slavery.

The activity was participated in by government employees, representatives from national government agencies, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders.

Also present were Provincial Council for Women chairperson Atty. Andrea Si and Executive Assistant to the Governor and GAD Action Officer Marie June Castro, among others.

The activity is themed “Reach Every Victim of Trafficking, Leave No One Behind”.*#AbanseNegrense
