6th District Livestock Breeders Received Livelihood Program

The Sixth District towns and cities of Negros Occidental received breeder piglets from the Provincial Government, in turn over ceremonies led by Governor Bong Lacson, yesterday, at Cauayan Public Plaza and Sipalay Sity Government Center, respectively.

The towns of Ilog, Candoni, Cauayan, Hinobaan, and the cities of Sipalay and Kabankalan received 180 heads of breeder piglets as part of the Provincial Animal Genetic Improvement Program.

Gov. Bong Lacson said that the fight against COVID-19 pandemic is a priority but there is still a need to continue the livelihood programs of animal breeders in the province.
He also said that he hopes the project will be sustainable to help more beneficiaries as part of ensuring food security program in the province.

Present at the turn over ceremony were Mayors John Rey Tabujara of Cauayan, Pedro Zayco of Kabankalan City, Ma. Gina Lizares of Sipalay City, and Ernesto Estrao of Hinobaan, and other local officials.
Meanwhile, the Pekin Duck Multiplier Farms located in Cauayan and Sipalay City were also inaugurated, as part of the day’s activity.

Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinarian, Dr. Renante Decena, said that the said the Provincial Government’s Animal Genetic Improvement Program aims to breed and produce healthy livestock and meat products, that redounds to the enhancement of livelihood of beneficiaries and improvement of lives in the community.

He also said that Artificial Insemination centers and laboratories were also established to produce high quality livestock for project sustainability.

All mayors thanked Gov. Lacson for the project given to their constituents that they said will be a big help in the midst of the present worldwide pandemic.
