The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental launched the First Governor’s Esports Summer Cup 2023 in Silay City, this morning, which aims to promote digital literacy innovation involving both public and private schools in the province.

Gov. Bong Lacson led the launching of the event, together with Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, Silay Mayor Joedith Gallego, Silay Councilor Ryan Gamboa, and NOLITC Administrator Dr. Cristina Orbecido, among others.

The objective of the video gaming tournament, spearheaded by the Negros Occ. Language and IT Center (NOLITC), is to empower Negrense students and allow them to collaborate, learn and develop important skills needed around the growing esports and gaming industry across the globe.

The event is a pioneering project of the provincial government in partnership with AcadArena Technologies, Jobancom, and the LGUs of Silay, Himamaylan and Victorias.

Gov. Lacson said that the Esports Education Program intends to hone talents in esports to compete in national and international competitions.
