More than P3 million worth of livestock and poultry projects were distributed to the 2nd and 3rd District LGUs of Negros Occidental, today.

Gov. Bong Lacson led the ceremonial turnover of carabaos, goats, and free-range chickens at the Municipality of E.B. Magalona, together with Third District Board Member Andrew Montelibano.

The activity was also attended by Mayors Marvin Malacon of E.B. Magalona, Manuel Escalante III of Manapla, Gerry Rojas of Murcia, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Placeda Lemana, and other local officials and LGU representatives, among others.

The livelihood project for the LGUs is part of the P36.5 million Negros Occidental Typhoon Odette Livestock and Poultry Rehabilitation Program, funded under the Department of Agriculture’s Quick Response Fund.

The said rehabilitation program is a joint undertaking of DA Regional Office 6 and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental intended to restore the damage to livelihood and replace livestock and poultry animals lost during the onslaught of the previous typhoon aimed primarily at helping the affected animal raisers recover the loss of their source of income and livelihood.

The same project distributions have been ongoing in various districts of the province in previous months.
