Negros Occidental Governor Bong Lacson lauded KAMI SUNOI, Inc., a group from the Municipality of Binalbagan after recently being named 21st Gawad Kalasag winner for Best People’s Organizations given by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Department of National Defense.
Gawad Kalasag (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan, SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan) is the country’s recognition mechanism for various stakeholders that design and implement DRRM programs that protect and shield high-risk communities against hazards and render them capable of responding to disaster and effectively coping with the consequences.
KAMI SUNOI which stands for Kami ang Mabulig sa Inyo Saligan Utod Ninyo sa Oras sang Ital-Ital, Inc., received a P300,000 cash incentive and a plaque that they presented to the Governor in their courtesy visit to the Governor’s Office at the Provincial Capitol today.
The group’s founder Engr. Patrick Mabag signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the incentive utilization for the group’s projects, in the presence of the Governor, with the Office of the Civil Defense represented by Regional Office VI Regional Director Jose Roberto Nuñez.
The MOA provides that recipients of the awards shall only use their cash incentives for the implementation of programs, activities, and projects aligned with the NDRRM Plan, Local Climate Change Action Plan, Philippine Development Plan, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development Goals./Capitol News
