DILG NAMES LOCAL LEGISLATIVE, LUPONG TAGAPAMAYAPA, AND OUTSTANDING BARANGAY TANOD AWARDEES

Negros Occ. Gov. Bong Lacson, chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) 6 and DILG Region 6 Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero led the awarding of the 2023 Local Legislative Award, Lupong Tagapamayapa Incentives Award, and Outstanding Barangay Tanod Award held at Festive Walk Iloilo City, today.

The event is a program of the DILG Local Government Regional Resource Center (LGRRC) 6 in celebration of the 32nd Anniversary of the Local Government Code (LGC).San Carlos City, Negros Occidental and Bacolod City ranked first in the 2023 Local Legislative Award, Component City and Highly Urbanized City Categories, respectively.

Gov. Lacson said that the Local Government Code was enacted to ensure the fullest advancement of LGUs as self-reliant government units.

“While it granted us autonomy, this development necessitates that all local stakeholders continually strive for responsive and dynamic governance, addressing not only present needs but also anticipating the future,” he said.

The governor also said that the recognition of awardees provides an opportunity for them to contemplate progress, acknowledge successes, and chart direction in local governance, as well as an opportunity to recognize the unwavering commitment of local leaders and frontliners in upholding peace and order in communities.
