FOR BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION. Governor Bong Lacson met with the executives of Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. (PhilBio), BIOFIN (BioFinancing) Project of the United Nations Development Programme – Global Environment Facility (UNDP – GEF), DENR and PEMO yesterday, September 9, 2022, related to the project, Developing Finance Solutions for Biodiversity Conservation on Negros Island.

Present in the meeting were PEMO Head, Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, Anabelle Plantilla, BIOFIN UNDP Project Manager, Kamille Rosales BIOFIN UNDP Project Officer, Lisa Paguntalan, PhilBio Executive Director, Philip Godfrey Jakosalem, PhilBio Field Operations Manager, Christian Casio, Catherine Balasa of DENR, and Ma. Elena San Jose and Aldwin Legaspi of PEMO, and April Love Wee, Recreation and Welfare Services Officer of Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary.

They discussed partnership agreements and project cooperation, as well as the conduct of consultation meetings and workshops for the development and implementation of finance solutions, all for biodiversity conservation and protection of the environment.

The group also highlighted Gov. Lacson’s contribution to the Bukidnon Magahat Ancestral Domain, as it the first time the group had accessed grant from the province, since it has been declared as Ancestral Domain in 2008.

It is the Wilderness Area of the Bukidnon Magahat and the last remnant lowland forest in the southern part of Negros Occidental.
