GOV. LACSON JOINS DOWN SYNDROME DAY EVENT

Negros Occ. Gov. Bong Lacson joined the celebration of Down Syndrome Day dubbed as “Happy Walk 2024” held at SM City, Sunday (March 24), spearheaded by the Down Syndrome Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DSAPI) – Bacolod Parent Support Group.

Children with Down Syndrome from various groups and LGUs of the province, together with their families, attended the event, which aims to raise awareness by showing the public that persons with DS possess the potential to achieve higher degrees of self-reliance and can live full and decent lives if they are given the chance.

Gov. Lacson urged everyone to build on the gains of the past initiatives and renew commitment to recognize differences, celebrate diversity, and embrace inclusivity in Negros Occidental.

“It is the solemn duty of our humanity to ensure that every individual, regardless of their abilities or differences, be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion,” he said.#AbanseNegrense#love#happywalk2024
