Gov. Lacson joins launching of DPWH maintenance dredging program

Governor Bong Lacson attended the launching of the Maintenance Dredging Program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) held at Carugiat River along Victorias City National Highway, earlier today.

According to the governor, flooding caused by heavy rains has been affecting and causing damages in agricultural lands and residential areas in the Third District, particularly in Victorias City, that is why dredging must be a continuing operation to revive the natural waterways.

The said dredging project started at Carugiat River to Malihaw and Magnanod Rivers.

Gov. Lacson thanked Third District Representative, Kiko Benitez and Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca for their effort and support in sharing a common vision of a flood-free Victorias City.

He also encouraged the LGUs to purchase their own dredger especially those prone to heavy flooding during the rainy season. Also present in the activity were Office of the Civil Defense Region VI Director, Bobby Nunez, Negros Occ. Board Member Juvy Pepello, and Engr. Jaime Javellana of the Negros Occidental First District Engineering Office.
