Governor Bong Lacson joined the province-wide OFW Family Day 2022 celebration held at Silay City on December 16, 2022.
The activity was attended by Negrense OFWs and their families, who came from the different cities and municipalities of the province.
Gov said that the celebration acknowledges not just the contribution of migrant workers to the economy, but also honors their sacrifices.
He also said that the Provincial Government is aware of the challenges of migrant workers, including the high personal cost of being away from family, and the gravity of the impact of the COVID crisis, and assured them of the province’s aid and support.
The governor thanked the Silay City Government led by Mayor Joedith Gallego, and all stakeholders present, including the non-government organizations, which provided relevant programs and services to the migrant workers.
Also present at the activity were OWWA Region VI Director, Rizza Joy Moldes, Sally Barrios of the Federation of OFW – Negros Occidental, and Executive Assistant to the Governor Marie June Castro, among others.
