Gov. Lacson signs MOA for Regional Geographic Information Network

Governor Bong Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Regional Office VI and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Office VI on the institutionalization of the Western Visayas Regional Geographic Information Network Innovation Hub (RGIN-IH), yesterday.

The RGIN promotes geographic data sharing, standardization, and integration among members of the RGIN, as well as complementation of GIS technology, resources, and human resource capability buildup.

The RGIN-IH was created to respond to the need to promote and institutionalize the use of GIS as a tool for planning and policy formulation, development research, investment programming, and project monitoring and evaluation, among others.

The six provinces of Western Visayas, concerned national government agencies, cities of Bacolod and Iloilo, and selected state universities and colleges compose its members.

The signing of the MOA was facilitated by Johnny Delfin of NEDA VI.
