PARTNERSHIP FOR FOOD SECURITY. Country Coordinator for the Philippines, Maria de Guia, and Representative Nancy de Leon Pestaño of PUM Netherlands Senior Expert Program met with Governor Bong Lacson at the Capitol yesterday for updates on their ongoing projects in Negros Occidental related to food security.
PUM Netherlands is an overseas assistance of The Netherlands that has been covering Negros Occidental since 2005. It provides knowledge transfer in priority industries by sending volunteer Dutch experts who present initiatives and give advice and technical assistance for PEMO’s upland farmers engaged in Cacao farming and Negros First Ranch’s Nucleus Breeding Farm for Swine. It is jointly coordinated with the offices of the Provincial Veterinarian and the Provincial Agriculturist.
IsaacSeed Philippines, Inc., represented by Jeymar Bungag, will also collaborate with the provincial government, and help farmers who are into corn production and other agricultural inputs. Supervising Agriculturist, Dr. Dina Genzola, also joined the meeting.
