Provincial Vet Office Conducts Relief and Rehab Mission

PROVINCIAL VET OFFICE CONDUCTS RELIEF AND REHAB MISSION

The Provincial Veterinary Office led by Dr. Renante Decena, is conducting a monthlong Veterinary Relief and Rehabilitation Mission to typhoon-stricken LGUs in the province.

It aims to help the affected animals to recover and return to their optimum and production performance to address the possible post-typhoon shortage of livestock and poultry products in the local market.

The veterinary mission that starts today, include free consultation, treatment, deworming, provision of feeds, veterinary drugs and vitamin supplements, and laboratory services to livestock and poultry animals, among others.

They are set to visit the cities of Kabankalan, Sipalay, and Himamaylan, and the towns of Ilog, Hinobaan, Cauayan, Candoni, Binalbagan, Isabela, Hinigaran, Moises Padilla, and La Castellana, on scheduled dates.

According to the PVO, Typhoon Odette has caused severe damage in the livestock and poultry industry of the province, which affected both the backyard and commercial sectors.

PVO Record shows that more than P700 Million total losses have been recorded provincewide, which constitutes the value of dead animals, damaged feeds and other farm supplies, structural damages to animal housing and other farm structures.

The activity is also in collaboration with Iloilo-Bacolod Association of Veterinary Sales Representatives, Negros Association of Animal Feed and Drug Supplies, and Philippine Veterinary Medical Association Western Visayas – B Chapter, among other different animal feed and drug companies.
