A Trainers’ Orientation on Gender and Development (GAD) Mainstreaming was held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City this morning spearheaded by the Provincial GAD Focal Point System (PGFPS).

The activity, attended by GAD representatives from the cities and municipalities of the province, aims to have more GAD speakers and facilitators who can assist LGUs in analyzing and addressing the causes of gender inequality, and eventually change the systems that cause gender disparity.

Governor Bong Lacson, who is also the PGFPS chairman, said that GAD Programs must be treated not just from a development perspective, but a process that involves active participation among all stakeholders.

Marita Castillo – Pimentel, of the Philippine Commission on Women and a member of the National GAD Resource Pool facilitated the GAD Session together with Executive Assistant to the Governor and GAD Action Officer Marie June Castro.

Board Member Rita Gatuslao and Provincial Council for Women president, Atty. Andrea Lizares – Si were also present at the activity.
