COMMUNITY-BASED NUTRITION PROGRAM AT DSB CULMINATES

Gov. Bong Lacson led the culmination activity of the Provincial Government’s Community-Based Nutrition Program (CNBP) for Peace and Development, in the Municipality of Don Salvador Benedicto.

The CNBP was conceptualized to provide necessary and appropriate intervention against malnutrition in coordination with the LGU of Don Salvador Benedicto and in collaboration with the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod and Negros Occidental Nutrition Alliance.

The provincial government allocated P500,000 for each of the seven identified beneficiary barangays for the 90-day feeding of the 30 identified malnourished children in the municipality, that started April 27, 2023.

As of July 10, 2023, health records show that there is a significant increase in the number of children who gained weight after the two months of nutrition feeding.60 percent of the children have achieved normal weight after two months of program implementation.

DSB Mayor Laurence Marxlen dela Cruz thanked the provincial government for extending assistance to malnourished children, which will help a lot in their health and development.

Gov. Lacson said that the CNBP is a concrete step to make sure that the government’s plan of action against malnutrition involves not only remedies, but also prevention and proper assistance.

He urged the community to work together to put an end to malnutrition, especially in far-flung barangays in the province.*#AbanseNegrense
